ROH Aries vs. Richards

Novi, Michigan 11/13/09

1.) Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. The House of Truth: **3/4

This was a rematch from the Clash of the Contenders show. Not quite as good as that match, but still a fairly good opener. 

2.) Pick 6 Series Match - Tyler Black (2) vs. Claudio Castagnoli (6): ***

Here we have the first house show featuring the Pick 6 Series. It was a fine match, but it could have been better though.

3.) Erick Stevens & Joey Ryan vs. The Super Smash Bros: **

Eh...this was an ok Tag Team Match. More of a way to put over Stevens & Ryan. I actually like Stevens & Ryan as a team, but Ryan didn't need the Embassy.

4.) Pick 6 Series Match - Kenny Omega (3) vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima: ***3/4

Ah now this should be good....and it definitely proved to be. This was a great match. The majority of it was very good, but it looked like it got sloppy at the end.

After the match, Nakajima attacks Omega, then asks for a rematch and they end up shake hands. Weird...

5.) Kenny King & Rhett Titus vs. Colt Cabana & Delirious: **3/4

A pretty formula tag team match on this one. You got the comedy bit from Cabana & Delirious which is what you'd expect. 

6.) Pick 6 Series Match - Roderick Strong (1) vs. Chris Hero: ***1/4

This was a good match. Very good psychology in this one as Hero attacked key body parts so he can neutralize the offense of Roderick Strong. Hero steals the win using the Golden Elbow Pad.

7.) Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. The Young Bucks: ****1/4

These two had a pretty good match back at Contention. What can I say? This was great. This was AWESOME. Really great tag team match. Action-Packed throughout.

Austin Aries comes out for the main event and does a good back & forth with a few fans. He talks about how the time for talk is over, and we get the main event going!!

8.) ROH World Title - Austin Aries vs. Davey Richards: ****1/2

Davey Richards won the Toronto Gauntlet back at Death Before Dishonor VII weekend to earn this title shot. We got some awesome stuff in this match. Aries wrestled his usual style, but he really had to dig down deep to pull out a victory here against Richards. A classic World Title Main Event from ROH.

After the match, Aries calls himself the Best in the World but that Davey gave him a run for his money. He said he proved all of his doubters wrong. Davey Richards gets a standing ovation as the show ends.

Overall: 8.75/10

This was a pretty good show. The first three matches were rather average, but the show really picked up after the Kenny Omega match. The World Title Match & Steenerico/Young Bucks are definitely worth checking out. Very good stuff here.
